Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar through his pop-folk songs based on folk, many of them based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in affection with Colorado and eventually relocated to Aspen. Denver's famous anthems about Colorado are a source of inspiration for many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Many consider Denver to be the image of Colorado. You meet people in other countries, like New Zealanders. They ask them "I come from Colorado" and they immediately respond with "Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads, co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint with folk bands, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff originally wrote it to Johnny Cash's tune with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver realized from the first moment he listened to the first versions of the song that it could be a huge success. The song was performed on stage in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver made a recording a few days later.
